This year, the Kiiminkijoki kayaking event will be held from 9 to 13 June 2025.
The kayaking will start from Kivarinjärvi in Puolanka and end in Haukiputaa. The daily stages are as follows:
Day 1: Kivarinjärvi-Kurimo 24km
Day 2: Juorkuna-Lamminkoski 31km
Day 3: Lamminkoski-Joki-Kokko 32km
Day 4: Ylikiiminki-Koiteli 23km
Day 5: Koiteli-Haukipudas 35km
ATTENTION! When booking kayaking days, you book days, so if you want to participate in one day, for example on Tuesday, book 9-10 June from the calendar or if you want to participate in 2 days, Tuesday - Wednesday, book 9-11 June from the calendar.
The exact addresses of the starting points will be announced to those who have registered. Departures will take place every morning at 9 am and arrival is estimated at 5 pm.
The main kayakiest of the event is Olavi Pallari, who is experienced in whitewater kayaking, and there will also be safety paddlers. The organizer is Lappis, on behalf of the Kiiminkijoki ry. There will be one person on shore ready to help with maintenance, for example.
The price is 50€/person/day and includes guidance and safety services on the water, and if necessary, a personal transfer back to the starting point at the end of the day. Meals/day can be purchased in advance. Participants will be informed about these later.
The kayaking trips are listed above. The day trip has both flowing water, small rapids and backwaters. Breaks will be taken during the day. There will be a lunch break about halfway through the route. There is an outdoor toilet at the lunch spots.
The kayakers will stay overnight in their own tent and the transport of these and other larger items will be handled by a land person. You need to bring the equipment you need for the day with you in your kayak or canoe.
Participants are expected to have basic paddling skills.
It is possible to rent paddling equipment for an additional fee. Kayaks are rented by Lappis and canoes can be requested from, for example, Vuoton Joutsen, Backwood Action or Pohjolan Kanootti.
The rental price through Lappis is 60€/kayak. The price includes kayak transport, kayak, paddle, splash cover, vests and helmet.
